JASON'S SOURDOUGH

The Jason's Sourdough commercial was broadcast on ITV in the UK as well as on YouTube.  Geary's Bakery, owners of Jason's Sourdough, are based in Leicestershire and requested an East Midlands accent for this job and, as I have an ear for accents and also have family from Leicestershire and Derbyshire, I was well placed to deliver.  My next door neighbour supports Leicester City FC, but he can't do the accent, he's from Hampshire. I firmly believe that if you're going to support a team you should be able to do the accent.  My Barcelonan accent is impeccable. *

* The last statement may not be entirely accurate. I don't support Barcelona, for a start.

ANIMATION

Moving Away Your Dust:
Ernest Boots Tackles Westminster's Waste Crisis in 1894 AKA "What A Horse and Cart!"

Dir. Tom Hillenbrand

Three months in the making, this short film with the snappy title 'Moving Away Your Dust: Ernest Boots Tackles Westminster's Waste Crisis in 1894, AKA "What a Horse and Cart!"', combines stop motion animation, glove puppetry and live action. It’s a humorous take on the challenges that faced street cleaners in London at the turn of the 19th Century, specifically the high numbers of horses on the streets and what they left behind them. Warning: this film contains toilet humour. Having co-written the script with Peter Daniel (Education and Interpretation Officer at The City of Westminster Archives, who was instrumental in putting the bid for the project together and invited me to get involved) I made the puppets and props, along with a 3D printed horse (thanks to Chris Richards Richards), which I then took to College Park Special School in London, to work with the students there to film the stop motion animation. They were very welcoming, as usual, and it was great to work with the school again. I also provided all of the voices of the characters within the film, edited the video and wrote the incidental music, with a slight nod to the theme from Steptoe and Son. The song at the end of the film, about Ernest Boots, our hero, was written and performed by @Vincent Burke. Commissioned by Westminster City Council Archives and The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the film was funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery Players. Dis\Connect

dir. Doug Hindson

This short animation, employing ingenious use of wooden puppets, props and sets, became a Staff Pick on Vimeo.  It speaks to the modern malaise of the emptiness felt by many people, who are addicted to their smart phones and feel directionless.

CLOSED VISIT

Dir. Jade Evans

A touching and poignant film about the difficulties of a man, whose marriage has broken down and having access to see his child.

BY BLOOD BY SWORD

Dir. Georgie Carpenter

I voiced both the son and the father characters, who battle for supremacy and the right to rule their people in this short, college animation.
